Transforming Social Care

Transforming Social care and transport.

Sutton Community Transport sponsored and organised a half day conference on Tuesday 14th September at The Chaucer Centre in Canterbury Road to discuss door to door transport in the Borough. The demand for a conference came from the voluntary sector in Sutton arising in particular from the challenges all service deliverers will face as a result of the transforming  social care agenda; (in the London Borough of Sutton this agenda has been named Transforming Lives”).

Furthermore, Sutton is one of the 4 Local Authorities working with the Government to promote the Big Society initiative. One of the related objectives for the Borough is “to show how to give people influence over transport decisions and allow greater local choice in schemes that suit them.”

The conference had the support of Sutton Borough Council (LBS) and Sutton Centre for Voluntary Services (SCVS)

The conference was specifically aimed at voluntary sector providers in the Borough who have transport issues. The conference was attended by users, providers and purchasers.
