What is MiDAS?
MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers. It is a membership based scheme that has been designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses. Sutton Community Transport insists that all drivers of its minibuses are MiDAS trained.
Who is it aimed at?
MiDAS is applicable to any organisation operating or using minibuses. Member organisations range from small voluntary organisations operating one vehicle, to local authorities operating large fleets of minibuses as well as schools, colleges and universities.
How long is the course?
The standard course has two parts, theory training which lasts for one morning and a driving assessment which can be booked with our trainer at the end of the theory course, for a time and date to suit you.
The accessible course includes the morning theory course, and continues on after a lunch break until approximately 4pm. After which you can book your driving assessment with the trainer, for a time that is suitable to you.
The driving assessment lasts for approximately one hour.
What MiDAS offers you?
As an employer you will have fulfilled your duty of care to your
Staff by training them to a high standard.
Both you and your passengers will be aware that your Mini Bus driving ability has been assessed to a nationally recognised and highly respected standard.
Drivers who successfully complete the MiDAS assessment and training programme will receive a nationally recognised certificate valid for four years, as well as the comprehensive "MiDAS Driver's Handbook" to keep for further reference.
How much does MiDAS cost?
The standard course costs £65 +VAT per person.
The accessible course costs £90+VAT per person.
