Accessible Cars
|
We have two fully accessible cars that hold 1 wheelchair and three passengers, plus the driver. Both cars have air conditioning and are automatic. The car above is our newest addition. It is a VW Caddy Maxi, registered only in July this year. It has a 1600 engine and is a diesel powered car. This specialist vehicle which looks like a family car has been purchased by Sutton Disability Partnership for children and young people with "aiming high for Disabled children" capital funding. This is the first time that Sutton Community Transport have joined with Sutton Disability Partnership to provide a unique transport facility to be used by disabled children and their families. This facility is also open local residents who need an acccessible car to make their journeys. It has the driver's seat, passengers seat, and two seats in the rear, either side of the centre, where there is plenty of space for a wheelchair. The wheelchair restraints ( made by Unwins) are all completely fitted to the vehicle. But the best thing about this car is... it can be driven on an ordinary B category on your driving licence. There is no need for a D1 category or MiDAS training. It can be hired by anyone of our members and driven by you. If you are not yet a member, then call SCT for more information on how to join.
We also have a Mercedes Vaneo accessible automatic car. Registered in 2004 and also diesel. This is also a four seat car with enough room in the centre for a wheelchair. Again, all the restraints for the wheelchair do come included in the car. The hire cost is 91 pence a mile (excluding VAT which is payable on these vehicles) up to 100 miles with a lower rate for longer journeys. There are no extra charges or costs whatseoever for either vehicle. This car can also be driven on an ordinary car licence, so again, no need for MiDAS training or a D1 category on your licence.
Why not take advantage of these two cars and call us today!
